Simon was born and raised in Dundee, Scotland. This is where he started his business and marketing career at age 20 as a Independent Authorised Distributor for Utility Warehouse (the only company in the UK that provides both energy and telecommunications) and studied at Dundee College. He then went on to completing his studies by obtaining a Marketing Management with Entrepreneurship (Hons) Degree from Edinburgh's Napier University. Simon has been able to demonstrated through his Utility Warehouse business how households and SME's businesses can reduce their out-goings while retaining the same and sometimes even better level of service.
Simon also became a director of a charity at just the age of 19. He was elected as a Member of Scotland's Youth Parliament (SYP) where he served as Convenor for the Justice committee and was a director on the SYP's board of directors. Simon has and worked for members of the Scottish Parliament (MSP's) in various capacities with campaigning activities and marketing knowledge. He has over 10 years marketing and political campaign experience combined from across Scotland in various roles and capacities.
Simon's most recent business venture is a Franchise of the sandwich chain Subway. He owes and operates a Subway store in the Stockbridge area in Edinburgh and as done so for almost 2 years. Since taking over, Simon has vastly improved the performance of the store which as been operating for the past 10 years. The business has seen a dramatic increase in sales to almost 50% since Simon took over with this trend continuing and the store is improving its offering to Subway customers.
Simon recently stated: "I believe that every business can survive, grow and be prosperous no matter what it offers. The key is finding the right method to provide your products and service to your customers that makes it profitable to you while giving good value for customers".
